Issue activity is the heart of the Linear experience. We make it easy to quickly understand progress and communicate information between team members.
Comments
Comments let you keep issue-related discussions directly in Linear. They have the same features as the editor: markdown, @mentions, drag & drop images, Figma and Loom embeds, code blocks, emoji, and issue references. You can even write out todo lists.
Anyone subscribed to the issue will receive a notification when comments are added, whether or not they are tagged. To share a direct link to a comment or delete a comment, click the more menu (three dots).
Activity
The activity timeline shows you a history of issue progress. It gives you critical context when reviewing and working on issues together. Most changes to an issue will show up in the activity history. This includes issue created dates, changes to title or description, updates to status, estimation, labels, and assignees, movement to/from cycles and projects and updates in Github or Gitlab. Activity is condensed by default. This means that if you change the same field multiple times, only one activity item will be added.
ProTip: See team member availability
Avatars show whether your teammates are currently online, away or offline. To see when someone was last online, hover over the avatar in any comment.
